On May 11, the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) issued a disciplinary notice against the Taiyuan venue and Shanxi Fenjiu Club following incidents during the 2025-2026 CBA playoff quarterfinal game on May 10. The match, numbered 439, was played between the Shanxi Fenjiu Dragons and the Zhejiang Guangsha Lions. During the game, a large number of spectators repeatedly chanted “corrupt referee” and verbally abused the officials, in violation of the league’s disciplinary regulations, thereby harming the league’s reputation.
To maintain discipline, the CBA invoked Article 76, Chapter 7 of the disciplinary code. The punishment includes disqualifying the Taiyuan venue from competing for the “Best Venue” award for the 2025-2026 season and fining the Shanxi Fenjiu Club 50,000 RMB (deducted from league funds). Additionally, the club received 3 demerit points under the CBA Youth-Friendly Venue Scoring System. The Taiyuan venue and Shanxi Fenjiu Club are also required to strengthen guidance, education, and management to ensure orderly and safe fan conduct at future games.
